SEALER FINISHES

Sealer Finishes are a combination of characteristics from Sealers and Finishes.  Water based emulsions are made of different sized particles.  Controlling the particle size distribution (relative numbers of small to large particles) controls the characteristics of the finish.   Sealers have a higher distribution of large particles, this allows them to fill pores quickly, but result in lower gloss because the don't pack as tightly.  Finishes have a high distribution of smaller particles.  Smaller particles create smooth, glossy films.  Sealer finishes have a middle distribution, some large particles, some small particles.  Thus it has the characteristics of both types of products.

Sealer finishes are removable.  They are usually metal-cross linked, which makes them removable with ammoniated or ammonia containing strippers.
