SPIN BONNET CLEANING (Immersion Method)

The immersion method of spin bonnet cleaning is also an interim method of carpet care. This system is designed to maintain a consistent appearance and to prolong time between costly rotary shampooing and/or extraction cleaning. Bonnet cleaning removes soil from the surface of the carpet. It is not a deep cleaning method such as rotary shampooing or extraction cleaning. The method is fast, introduces minimal moisture and dries rapidly.

Equipment:

Pressure sprayer
175 - 300 rpm rotary floor machine
Spin Bonnet Pads
Wet Floor Signs
Upright Vacuum
Mop bucket and wringer
Fans

Chemicals:

Spotter
Prespray
Bonnet Cleaner
Air Freshener

Instructions

  1. Place wet floor signs.
  2. Clear the area of merchandise and store fixtures to make cleaning easier and quicker.
  3. Remove spots and stains, using the appropriate Franklin Spotter.
  4. Check the vacuum to make sure it is operating properly. Check the vacuum recovery bag, empty or replace it if full. Vacuum the area thoroughly.
  5. Prepare Prespray solution and spray the area to be cleaned. Follow mixing directions on the product label.
  6. Place the Prespray solution into a pump up sprayer and spray the area as required.
  7. In a mop and bucket, mix the Bonnet Cleaner solution according to the directions on the product label. If desired, add Air Freshener to the cleaning solution following label instructions.
  8. Soak bonnet pad in Bonnet Cleaner solution. Place bonnet in wringer and squeeze out as much solution as possible.
  9. Place the bonnet beneath the floor machine and work across the carpet in a slow, side to side motion. Move slowly backward, making sure to overlap the cleaned area.
  10. Flip the bonnet pads over as they become soiled (200 - 300 sq. ft.).
  11. Rinse soiled bonnets thoroughly in a bucket filled with clean water. Put bonnet in a wringer and squeeze out as much water as possible. Dip bonnet in Bonnet Cleaner solution. Again, wring out as much solution as possible. Place bonnet beneath the floor machine and continue cleaning. Change bonnets as they become soiled.
  12. Use fans to speed up drying.
  13. When dry, vacuum area thoroughly.
  14. Put away equipment and supplies. Clean or wipe down equipment and return it to storage.
